Founded in 1942 as National Secretaries Association as the recognized leader of office professionals, the association voted to change its name in 1981 to Professional Secretaries International. Again, with the goal to enhance individual and collective value, image, competence, and influence, delegates at the 1998 International Convention and Education Forum voted to change the association's name to International Association for Administrative Professionals. IAAP represents more than 40,000 members and affiliates worldwide. IAAP is the originator and sponsor of Professional Secretaries Week and Professional Secretaries Day observed each April.
Valuable insight and information needed to utilize changing technology, to enhance interpersonal skills, and to develop a greater understanding of the multi-cultural business world is gained by members at various meetings held throughout the year.
The Winston-Salem Chapter was chartered in August, 1946. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC located at One West Fourth Street at 5:45 p.m. The evening begins with
dinner at a cost of $12.00 followed by an educational program and chapter business.
